U7 & U8 JR DERBYS COMPETITIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Streetsville Hockey League is proud to return our competitive development program (CDP) for the 2023-2024 season. The CDP Program will offer a top-notch hockey development opportunity for U7 & U8 participants and prepare these players for future REP Hockey with the Streetsville Tigers. The CDP players will receive professional instruction, and teams will participate in the CDP Loop which is based in West Toronto
Players in the CDP will participate in one or two practices per week and will typically play one game a week against other CDP teams from neighboring hockey associations (approximately 20-25 games per season). In addition CDP teams may participate in tournaments or festivals throughout the season.
There are additional costs to playing on a CDP team. CDP games will begin in October after Thanksgiving and will not be scheduled over holidays or during the public school system March Break.
Competitive Development Program games will follow Hockey Canada's Player Development model as outlined below:
- Players of all skill levels are welcome.
- Players will be tiered so they are playing against other players of similar ability.
- Professional development in addition to coach-run practices
- Full season of games against West Toronto based organizations
- Consistent practices at the Vic Johnston Community Center
- Exhibition games and the ability to participate in other jamborees/tournaments.
- Rosters of 18 players (16 skaters, 2 goalies.) Shift on/Shift off.
- Line changes - 2 minute buzzers, no stoppage.
- During game play teams will be divided into two squads of 9 players (8 skaters, 1 goalie.)
- Two games will be played simultaneously in a 4-on-4 format (plus goalies.)
- U7 Games will be played in a cross-ice format.
- U8 Games will be played in a half-ice format.

The Streetsville Derbys CDP Program offers an elite experience focused on player development. This includes building technical skills, tactical understanding of the game, physical fitness, and mental awareness.
There is no better hockey development available in Mississauga that combines the best of home-town hockey, tiered competition, professional development, and fun with friends. This is a Hockey Canada-sanctioned and Hockey Canada Pathway-approved environment, aimed at preparing players for Rep Hockey beginning at U10.
Teams will be assembled in the Fall through an opt-in and evaluation process. We are targeting 2 teams, 1 at U7 & 1 at U8.
